The total wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor market will jump to $28.88 billion in 2032, up from $2.92 billion in 2022. The key drivers for this phenomenal growth include, among others, the adoption of power devices for 400-V to 800-V battery systems in EVs. In this issue, we analyze the disruptive role of emerging WBG semiconductor technologies. To support present and future electric vehicles (EVs) and sophisticated electronics, SiC crystal manufacturing must increase significantly. SiC and power electronics components are in high demand due to EV adoption's exponential growth. Other topics in this issue are EV fast charging infrastructures, rad-tolerant power electronics for LEO satellite communications, and life cycle assessment (LCA) for EVs, an essential tool for evaluating and quantifying the overall environmental impact of a product throughout its entire cycle of life. Don't miss the latest PowerUP podcast with Philip Zuk, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Transphorm. And Wine Down Friday with Advanced Energy's Conor Quinn.
