In the electronics industry, a new era may be dawning. Joint research by China and the U.S. has created the first graphene material with semiconducting capabilities and 10× the electrical mobility of silicon. A research team from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Tianjin University in China, led by Georgia Tech physics professor Walter de Heer, has achieved an important milestone in the field of electronics: the creation of the first functional semiconductor made from graphene. In this issue we analyze how the graphene semiconductor was achieved. The car industry's traditional dominance by Europe and the U.S. shifted with Japan and Korea's emergence. Tesla revolutionized electric vehicles, now commanding a $695.83 billion market cap. Even surpassing the combined market cap of Toyota, VW, GM, Ford, and Honda, Tesla faces challenges from nimble Chinese entrants, reshaping the industry dynamics. What about Europe? Other topics in this issue are advanced packaging, wide bandgap semiconductors market with examples of applications and energy harvesting. Don't miss the latest Wine Down Friday with Qromis CEO Cem Basceri.
